ePLDT, Microsoft team up to keep enterprises secure from outdated systems
Manila, Philippines (1 February 2023) – ePLDT and Microsoft have partnered to educate enterprises on the benefits of migrating mission-critical systems to the cloud and cautions the dangers of not retiring outdated or legacy software. Attended by top enterprises in the country, the first run of the workshop series, titled Modernize Your Legacy, was held last month at the Microsoft Philippines Headquarters in Makati.
The Modernize Your Legacy workshops provide enterprises valuable insights on the Philippines’ current cybersecurity landscape, the growing complexity of infrastructures and cyber threats, and the issue of technical debt. The series also discusses how basic security hygiene and migrating to a cloud-based environment can help address these issues.
“This webinar series comes at an opportune time when enterprises are facing a greater number of cybersecurity threats. The need for proactive and strategic measures is more important now than ever,” said Victor S. Genuino, President & CEO of ePLDT.
For the past years, businesses have changed the way they operate with an increased reliance on digital tools and platforms. While the digital shift allowed for greater flexibility, it has also exposed their businesses to a heightened risk of cyber threats.
“Today, security is at an inflection point as digital attack surfaces continue to increase exponentially, giving rise to more sophisticated and expansive cyberattacks. Signals across industries highlight that every company needs to create a culture of security and modernize their approach to ensure they are protected,” said Peter Maquera, Microsoft Philippines CEO. “We believe in security for all and through 2026, our company has committed to investing $20 billion to expand our security offerings to help empower and protect our customers.”
Through the initiative, ePLDT and Microsoft aim to guide enterprises in their shift to cloud-based solutions, ensuring that their businesses can take advantage of enhanced data protection, better redundancy, and cost savings.
The partnership builds upon the existing relationship between ePLDT and Microsoft to bring best-of-class cloud-based solutions, and furthers ePLDT’s mission to help enterprises kickstart and navigate through their digital transformation journey. The workshop series also advances the PLDT Group’s vision to provide solutions that bring value and success to enterprises.
“ePLDT is proud to partner with tech companies, like Microsoft, in bringing light to the importance of cybersecurity. This is a step towards creating a more secure atmosphere for businesses and hyper-scalers in the Philippines,” Genuino added.
Attendees of the kickoff event included executives and IT experts representing leading financial institutions and conglomerates, as well as representatives from financial services, food, and retail industries.
