Sustainability at its finest: Employee Retention & Go Green Programs

As we continue to face the consequences of the global pandemic, organizations develop remote engagement activities for employees. These programs are designed to keep employees’ morale high and help them stay connected despite the work from home set-up.

In 2020, ePLDT’s People Experience & Communications of People & Workplace Management came up with several innovative and creative engagement programs to sustain employees’ productivity and work-life balance amid the pandemic. Apart from supporting the Group-wide Sustainability Campaign, ePLDT also executed a wide variety of engagement activities daily to boost employee well-being at work during these challenging times.

MonSlay

Employees were asked to share their work-from-home or on-site outfit of the day with the hashtag #OOTD along with their home and on-site office setup.

ChooseDay

Employees were asked to share their insights and perspectives on different topics.

WellnessDay

To help support and manage employees’ health and well-being, the team shared informative and friendly reminders about staying healthy.

Employees were also encouraged to share their Wellness-Day tips with colleagues.

TBT (Throwback Thursday)

Employees were asked to share their thoughts on what they miss the most before the pandemic.

Playday Fri-Yay

Employees were invited to join virtual mini-engagement activities or ‘online games.’

SIWO (Stay In Workout)

The team shared a 15-minute workout video for employees to follow and include in their daily routine during on-site lockdown.

Happy Birthday, Heroes!

During on-site lockdown, the team organized monthly birthday celebrations for employees who stayed for duty in our Data Centers. Food was served during these events.

Wellness Month

ePLDT celebrated Wellness Month with holistic wellness tips and activities that helped all employees build new habits to find new ways of taking care of their bodies. By tackling physical, financial, emotional, spiritual, and mental wellness through discussions with our own employees, vlogs produced by known personalities online, and a webinar featuring a mental health expert, the celebration of Y2020 Wellness Month became extremely informative, interesting, and relatable to everyone.

WinsDay

Employees are encouraged to share their personal and work-related wins. ePLDT Leaders were also asked to share advice on how each of us can achieve our personal goals. Vlogs from known personalities discussing ways to attain goals were also released for employee consumption.

ProductiviTIPS

Several employees got the chance to share their personal tips on becoming more productive especially in the new normal setup.

e Got You

This project aimed to help employees cope with the new normal through informative videos and EDMs. Aside from sustainability-related emailers, vlogs were released to discuss the new workplace protocols in the office.

Corporate Environmental Sustainability Campaign

As ePLDT supports PLDT-Smart’s Sustainability Campaign, the company’s engagement activities in 2020 were aligned with this campaign. Publicity materials such as emailers and videos about the benefits of refusing single-use plastic were shared to employees. Some e Got You content were also released to help employees practice a sustainable and eco-friendly lifestyle. ePLDT also supported PLDT-Smart’s Sustainability Week that offered sustainability-related activities for employees such as webinars, virtual trade expo, virtual mystery game, and an online concert.

ePLDT has gone beyond engagement activities to support this Group-wide Sustainability Campaign. The official internal messenger of ePLDT, also known as “IMe,” was redesigned with nature-inspired elements to align its look and feel with the purpose of the campaign. The company notebook for year 2021 will be made of eco-friendly and recycled materials to encourage employees to join the company’s zero-waste initiative. Also, sustainable birthday items (tumblers, reusable utensils, tote bags and lunch bags) will be distributed to employees to help them reduce waste, conserve resources, and become more environmentally friendly.

Working Together as ONE for a Sustainable Future

ePLDT continues to adopt innovative and creative employee engagement practices during the pandemic to keep employees motivated, stimulated, committed, and satisfied. In addition, while we take care of our well-being, it is also imporant to reinforce sustainability practices for the environment.
